Neo Genesis

Neo Genesis is the first expansion of the Neo Series and introduced the second generation of Pokémon to the Pokémon Trading Card Game. The set brought Pokémon from the Johto region into the TCG for the first time, following their debut in the video games Pokémon Gold and Silver.

The expansion features many of the most iconic Johto Pokémon including Lugia, Typhlosion, Meganium and Feraligatr, which quickly became fan favourites among collectors and players.

One of the most important additions in Neo Genesis was the introduction of Baby Pokémon, a new mechanic that represented young Pokémon such as Pichu, Cleffa and Igglybuff. These Pokémon often had special defensive abilities that made them difficult to attack, creating new strategic gameplay elements.

Neo Genesis also introduced new Energy cards, including Metal Energy and Darkness Energy, which expanded the types of strategies players could use when building decks.

The most famous card from the set is Lugia Holo 9/111, which became one of the most iconic legendary Pokémon cards of the early Pokémon TCG era. Its striking artwork and the popularity of Lugia helped make it one of the most sought-after cards from the Neo series.

Because of its introduction of Johto Pokémon and new gameplay mechanics, Neo Genesis marked a major milestone in the evolution of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
