Brilliant Stars

Brilliant Stars is the ninth expansion in the Sword & Shield era of the Pokémon Trading Card Game and is widely regarded as one of the most popular sets of the generation. The set prominently features Arceus, the mythical Pokémon said to have created the Pokémon universe, alongside fan favourites such as Charizard, Shaymin, Whimsicott and Mimikyu.

A major highlight of Brilliant Stars is the introduction of the VSTAR mechanic, which allows Pokémon V to evolve into powerful Pokémon VSTAR. These cards feature a special VSTAR Power, an attack or ability that can only be used once per game, adding a powerful strategic element to gameplay.

Another defining feature of the set is the debut of the Trainer Gallery subset, which contains beautifully illustrated full-art cards showing Pokémon together with their Trainers. These cards appear in the reverse holo slot of booster packs and quickly became extremely popular among collectors.

Brilliant Stars also features several stunning alternate art cards, including the iconic Charizard V Alternate Art 154/172, which depicts Charizard battling Venusaur in a dramatic illustrated scene. This card quickly became the most desirable pull from the set and one of the most popular modern Charizard cards ever released.

The set also includes several Gold Secret Rare cards, such as Arceus VSTAR 184/172, which feature premium gold artwork and are among the rarest cards in the expansion.

With its strong lineup of legendary Pokémon, introduction of VSTAR mechanics and highly collectible artwork, Brilliant Stars remains one of the standout sets from the Sword & Shield era.
