Destined Rivals

Destined Rivals is the tenth expansion in the Scarlet & Violet era of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. The set centres around iconic Pokémon Trainers and their partner Pokémon, bringing back the classic concept of Trainer’s Pokémon where specific characters appear alongside their signature Pokémon.

The expansion features several well-known trainers from across the Pokémon series, including Cynthia, Misty, Ethan, Steven, Marnie and Arven, each appearing with their partner Pokémon on special cards. At the same time, the set also introduces Team Rocket as a major antagonist theme, with Pokémon such as Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex appearing under the command of Giovanni.

Many cards in the set are labelled with the Trainer’s name, such as Cynthia’s Garchomp, Ethan’s Ho-Oh, and Misty’s Psyduck, creating a strong connection between the Pokémon and their famous trainers. This theme gives the set a nostalgic feel while also introducing new mechanics and artwork styles to the Scarlet & Violet era.

Destined Rivals also includes a large selection of Illustration Rare (IR) and Special Illustration Rare (SIR) cards featuring detailed scenes of trainers interacting with their Pokémon. One of the most notable cards is Cynthia’s Garchomp ex Special Illustration Rare 232/182, which quickly became one of the most sought-after cards in the set.

Another standout card is Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex Special Illustration Rare 231/182, showcasing Giovanni’s powerful Pokémon in dramatic artwork and reinforcing the Team Rocket storyline of the expansion.

With over 240 cards in total, Destined Rivals is one of the largest Scarlet & Violet sets and offers a wide variety of collectible Trainer-themed cards.
