EX Dragon Frontiers

EX Dragon Frontiers is the fifteenth and final expansion of the EX Series and is widely regarded as one of the most iconic sets from the entire EX era. The set continues the Delta Species concept, where Pokémon appear with unusual elemental types that differ from their traditional typings.

Many Pokémon in the set belong to the mysterious Holon region, a fictional research area introduced in several EX-era sets where scientists experimented with Pokémon energy types. As a result, Pokémon such as Charizard, Dragonite and Salamence appear with unexpected typings like Lightning, Metal and other unusual combinations.

Dragon-type Pokémon play a major role throughout the set, with powerful cards featuring Rayquaza, Dragonite, Salamence and Kingdra, which helped give the set its name.

Another major highlight of EX Dragon Frontiers is the inclusion of several extremely rare Gold Star Pokémon. These cards feature shiny versions of Pokémon and were among the rarest cards printed during the EX era. Gold Star cards typically had incredibly low pull rates, making them highly prized among collectors.

The most famous card in the set is Rayquaza Gold Star 107/101, which features Rayquaza in its shiny black form. This card quickly became one of the most valuable and sought-after cards from the entire EX Series.

Because of the combination of Delta Species Pokémon, Dragon-type themes and multiple Gold Star cards, EX Dragon Frontiers remains one of the most desirable vintage Pokémon TCG sets.
