Fossil

Fossil is the third expansion released for the Pokémon Trading Card Game and continues the early era of Pokémon cards following the Base Set and Jungle expansions. The set focuses heavily on prehistoric and mysterious Pokémon, particularly those connected to fossil discoveries and ancient origins.

Many of the Pokémon featured in this set are revived from fossils in the Pokémon games, including Aerodactyl, Kabutops and Omastar. These Pokémon became some of the defining characters of the expansion and helped give the set its distinctive prehistoric theme.

Fossil also introduced several popular Pokémon that had not yet appeared in previous expansions, including Dragonite and Gengar, both of which became iconic cards among collectors.

Like earlier expansions, Fossil features holographic rare cards that were highly sought after when opening booster packs. The holographic cards from this set, especially Dragonite Holo 4/62, remain some of the most recognisable cards from the early Pokémon TCG era.

The set also includes several Trainer cards that became staples of early gameplay, helping players build stronger and more strategic decks.

Because of its early release in Pokémon TCG history and the inclusion of several fan-favourite Pokémon, Fossil remains one of the most nostalgic sets from the original era.
