Lost Origin

Lost Origin is the eleventh expansion in the Sword & Shield era of the Pokémon Trading Card Game and is heavily inspired by the mysterious Lost Zone mechanic, originally introduced in earlier Pokémon TCG generations. The set focuses on distortion-themed Pokémon connected to alternate dimensions and mysterious powers.

The expansion prominently features Giratina, the legendary Pokémon associated with the Distortion World, making it the central character of the set. Giratina appears in several powerful cards, including Giratina VSTAR 131/196 and the highly sought-after Giratina V Alternate Art 186/196.

Lost Origin reintroduces the Lost Zone mechanic, where certain cards are sent to a special zone outside the normal discard pile and cannot be recovered during the game. This mechanic enables powerful strategies and new gameplay combinations.

The set also introduces Pokémon from the Hisui region, which debuted in the video game Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Pokémon such as Hisuian Zoroark and Hisuian Goodra appear as powerful Pokémon VSTAR cards within the set.

Another highlight of Lost Origin is the Trainer Gallery subset, which features beautifully illustrated cards showing Pokémon alongside their Trainers. These cards appear as additional collectible pulls within booster packs and became very popular among collectors.

Because of its strong lineup of legendary Pokémon, the return of the Lost Zone mechanic and several stunning alternate art cards, Lost Origin remains one of the standout sets from the Sword & Shield era.
